Basics & Training for Aikido Martial Art

A Japanese martial art form initially developed by MoriheiUshiba by blending the martial studies, philosophy and religious beliefs is Aikido. In the physical training the practitioners are taught to relax and build the endurance against the opponents instead of the strengthening techniques. The pushing and extending moments are more common in Aikido instead of the pulling and contracting movements in other martial art formats. The mental training includes the relaxation techniques in the stressful situations to respond smartly. The mental training is therefore of keen importance in the Aikido trainings.

Basic Attacks in Aikido:

Some basic techniques in Aikido are front of the head strike, side of the head strike, chest thrust and face thrust. The beginners start from practicing the grabs as these are easy to learn and safe to implement. Some of the basic grabs of the Aikido art format are discussed here. In Single-hand grab, the single hand grabs the other wrist while in the both-hands grab, the practitioners grabs the wrist from both hands. Both wrists could be grabbed from both hands in the both-hands grab. In chest grab, the cloth on the chest is grabbed by the opponents.
